About the Role
Our Mechanical Engineer is responsible for field operations, focused on installation, setup, testing, and maintenance of critical infrastructure essential for managing the UK’s wastewater systems.
Classified as an Associate role, this engineered position is part of UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS), offering hands-on variety and career development opportunities whilst contributing directly to national waterbalance operations.
Responsibilities
Install, commission and commission water filtration systems at sewage treatment sites.
Perform routine site inspections for faults and prepare detailed reports for quotations.
Efficiently use mobile electronic systems to check, interpret, and address technical specifications.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors across diverse environments, regardless of weather conditions.
Travel frequently, including working away from base overnight.

Requirements
Must have:
✔ Current valid UK driving licence
✔ Mechanical Engineer qualification (e.g. City & Guilds) or a recognised apprenticeship
✔ Safety-first mindset, ensuring compliance with operational guidelines
✔ Tools, efforts, and working attitudes: Proven mechanical hands-on experience and ability to troubleshoot and apply solutions based on problem diagnosis.
✔ Problem-solving aptitude, its ability to translate complex information prevents with in mobile platforms and repair instruments.
✔ Robust work approach including away from home assignments
✔ Proactive both troublesome reported complications approach and a resilient breakdown to time conditions
✔ Team collaboration skills and comprehensive oral reporting ability
