Mechanical Engineer – London – Up to £45,000 – 5 Days Onsite

We are working with a well-established facilities management organisation to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team at a prestigious London site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of mechanical building services, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance, supporting site operations, coordinating specialist contractors, and helping to drive continuous improvements across the estate.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical building services.
  • Monitoring the performance of plant and equipment, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Coordinating and supervising contractors to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Investigating mechanical faults and implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Supporting the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities to reduce disruption to building occupants.
  • Carrying out routine inspections to ensure assets remain compliant and fully operational.
  • Maintaining accurate service records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Working closely with facilities teams and client stakeholders to provide technical support and engineering expertise.
  • Assisting with small works, upgrades, and improvement projects across the site.
  • Ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with company procedures and health & safety legislation.
  • Contributing to a positive team culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues where required.

  • Previous experience maintaining mechanical building services within a commercial or facilities management environment.
  • A recognised mechanical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, apprenticeship, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, pumps, motors, pipework, and associated mechanical plant.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults across a variety of building systems.
  • Confidence working alongside contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
  • A solid understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
  • Good working knowledge of health & safety regulations and safe working practices.
