Job Description
🚀 This is a hybrid, site-based role in Bridgwater (3 days in the office). We welcome candidates within commuting distance or willing to relocate with support available. The position supports the delivery of materials, corrosion and coatings engineering on a major nuclear construction programme. Your future team works closely with construction, engineering and supplier organisations to resolve technical challenges and maintain configuration control.
- 🔧 Supporting complex materials, coatings and corrosion engineering technical issues on site
- 🧪 Reviewing corrosion modelling, coating specifications and material selection decisions
- 📄 Preparing technical assessments, engineering documentation and justification reports
- 🏗️ Collaborating with construction teams to resolve cross discipline technical queries
- 📊 Reviewing supplier documentation and coordinating technical comment resolution
- 📅 Leading technical meetings with suppliers and internal engineering stakeholders
- ⚙️ Supporting contract engineering oversight including scope, cost and schedule compliance
- 🔍 Managing design risks, early warnings and contract variation assessments
- 🔗 Coordinating interfaces between suppliers, client teams and engineering stakeholders
- 🗂️ Supporting configuration management activities including design changes and contract updates

Qualifications
Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated engineering environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.
We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.
- 🎓 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or closely related discipline
- 🧬 Knowledge of corrosion modelling standards including ISO 9223 or BS 9295
- 🏗️ Experience supporting engineering activities within complex construction environments
- 📄 Experience producing engineering reports, technical documentation and assessments
- 🔬 Experience with materials testing, characterisation or coating system evaluation
- 🌱 Understanding of sustainable material selection principles within engineering projects
- 📘 Ability to review complex coating documentation and assess design implications
- ⚙️ Experience working with supplier documentation and engineering review processes
- 📊 Understanding of engineering configuration control and design change management
