Mechanical Engineer/Fitter – Facilities Management (RAF Menwith Hill)

About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-focused Mechanical Engineer/Fitter to join our team, working on vital mechanical infrastructure across industrial, commercial, and defence environments.
Contract & Location
- Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
- HQ Location: RAF Menwith Hill, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, GB (HG3 2RF)
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Mon–Fri)
- Salary: £42,000–£45,000 (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
As part of a team of 3 Mechanical Engineers, your role will involve:
- Design & Installation
- Assemble and install key mechanical plant including pumps, motors, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), and generators.
- Ensure all installations meet specifications and safety standards.

Maintenance & Compliance
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance for MOD JSP 375 (defence) and SFG20 (commercial) systems.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to meet regulatory compliance.

Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults across all systems.
- Undertake repairs, replacements, or refurbishments to restore full functionality.

Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and operational regulations at all times.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

Essential:
- HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience in commercial building maintenance, particularly with mechanical plant systems.

Highly Desirable:
- Familiarity with MOD JSP 375 and SFG20 Planned Maintenance Specifications.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, motors, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), and generators.

Technical Skills
- Strong problem-solving and fault diagnosis abilities.
- High attention to detail and compliance standards.
