Job Description

🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit!

You will be part of an expanding team based around our Sunderland office, working on projects for nuclear, marine, and oil & gas (O&G) clients.

🔹 Hybrid working available (1–2 remote days per week).

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, your role will include:

  • Leading project tasks:

    • Managing and planning engineering projects
    • Coordinating with project management facilities
    • Supervising a team of engineers
  • Delivering engineering solutions:

    • Providing high-quality, robust technical solutions
    • Assessing and resolving wide-ranging engineering challenges

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Relevant senior engineering experience in:
    • Offshore/renewables/nuclear industries
    • Highly regulated sectors
  • Strong background in mechanical and structural engineering
  • Proficient in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia)
  • Solid mathematical skills, including MathCAD
  • Ability to produce technical reports (design, substantiation, assembly procedures)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, etc.)
  • Experience through the entire engineering design lifecycle (Concept to Manufacture)

Preferred/Advantageous

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • European/Offshore standards experience (Eurocode 3, DNV)
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expertise, particularly:
    • ANSYS Workbench
    • Non-linear and fatigue analysis
    • DNV/Eurocodes compliance
  • Ability to check and approve CAD assemblies/drawings
  • Proficiency in verifying engineering documentation (manuals, calculations, reports)

Additional Mandatory Requirements

  • Must meet UK security clearance criteria (due to nature of work)
