Job title: Mechanical Engineering Apprentice
Location: Brimsdown (Enfield) - UK
This is an on-site role
At Johnson Matthey, your work will matter. As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you’ll join a world leader in platinum group metals with over 200 years of history. Using advanced metals chemistry, you’ll help tackle the world’s biggest challenges – cutting emissions, powering modern life and supporting life-saving technologies – by applying, refining and recycling metals that matter for a healthier, more sustainable, circular future.
The role:
As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you will help drive our goals by:
- Supporting the mechanical maintenance team with planned and reactive maintenance activities across site
- Learning to maintain and repair mechanical plant equipment including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, valves and pipework
- Assisting with fault finding, inspections and basic mechanical fitting under supervision
- Following safe systems of work and site safety procedures, taking responsibility for personal safety and correct use of PPE
- Completing apprenticeship coursework and maintaining a training and development portfolio
Key skills that will help you succeed in this role:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*–C including English, Maths and Science
- An interest in engineering, mechanics or practical subjects
- A strong awareness of safety and willingness to follow procedures
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with others

Recruitment Process for this role:

- Final Stage: Participate in an on-site interview and tour of the facility.
