About the Role
Due to ongoing business growth, we are expanding our technical teams in Bristol and looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join Vulcain on a full-time permanent basis, to play an integral part of our major nuclear new build programmes.
The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of equipment packages including pumps, filters, heaters, and pressure systems and will sit within a high-performing engineering team responsible for ensuring equipment meets stringent safety, quality, and integration requirements across the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Some of the main responsibilities of the Mechanical Equipment Contract Lead will include:
- Provide technical oversight of mechanical equipment packages (e.g. pumps, filters, heaters, pressure equipment)
- Review and assess supplier designs, deliverables, and documentation
- Support resolution of technical queries across design, manufacturing, and qualification phases
- Ensure alignment of equipment with system and interface requirements
- Contribute to configuration control and management of design changes
- Support technical meetings and stakeholder coordination across engineering teams
- Monitor progress, risks, and issues associated with equipment delivery
- Ensure compliance with nuclear standards and project requirements
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who can bring the following:
- Background in mechanical engineering within regulated industries (e.g. nuclear, oil & gas, energy)
- Experience working with process or pressure equipment (e.g. pumps, heat exchangers, packages)
- Understanding of equipment design, manufacture, and lifecycle delivery
- Familiarity with engineering interfaces and system integration
- Experience reviewing technical documentation and supplier deliverables
- Awareness of configuration or change management processes
- Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills
- Comfortable working in structured, quality-driven environments
- Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
