Mechanical Estimator – £400-£450 per day Self Employed, £85,000 PAYE | Rayleigh, Essex | Full-Time Contract
We’re looking to bring in a Mechanical Estimator to support a growing pipeline of rail and infrastructure projects for one of our clients.
This is a full-time role where you’ll be responsible for pricing mechanical packages from design stage through to tender submission. This isn’t a role where you’re just handed numbers to plug in, you’ll be expected to: Produce accurate take-offs directly from drawings Build detailed bills of quantities Interpret specifications, ITTs, and technical documentation Consider installation, sequencing, and programme Engage with subcontractors for pricing and input

You’ll work closely with a hands-on Director and operational team, who will support on labour allowances and buildability — so you’re not working in isolation. What we’re looking for: Strong experience pricing mechanical packages Proven ability with take-offs from drawings Solid understanding of specifications and delivery Experience working with subcontractors High attention to detail Nice to have: Rail / infrastructure project exposure Experience using Ensign Basic understanding of electrical interfaces
