Astute’s Renewables Team is partnering with a renewable energy technology provider committed to sustainability, innovation, and professional development to recruit a Mechanical Field Service Technician for its UK-wide field-based operations.
Role Overview
The strategically important Mechanical Field Service Technician role comes with a starting salary between £45,000-£50,000, company pension, overtime opportunities, company vehicle, and flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities
Reporting To The Field Service Manager you will:
- Carry out installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of biogas upgrading plants, gas transport systems, and anaerobic digestion facilities.
- Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using specialist diagnostic equipment and technical schematics.
- Support commissioning activities, system upgrades, and refurbishment projects across customer sites.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to operators and clients during breakdowns and maintenance activities.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency breakdown situations when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, service reports, and spare parts records using internal service management systems.
- Ensure compliance with all QHSE procedures, risk assessments, and site safety regulations.
- Coordinate tools, consumables, service vehicles, and spare parts to ensure operational readiness.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience within industrial maintenance, servicing, or field service environments.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience using diagnostic and maintenance tools within industrial environments.
- Previous experience within biogas, anaerobic digestion, renewable energy, or process industries would be advantageous.
- Strong IT skills and experience using CMMS or field service management software.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently to customer sites.

The Field Service Technician role would suit someone who is:
- A strong problem solver with excellent fault-finding and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in field-based environments.
- Organised and proactive with a structured approach to maintenance activities.
- A strong communicator who can build effective relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Safety-conscious with a strong commitment to QHSE standards and procedures.
- Flexible and willing to travel regularly as part of the role.
