Mechanical Field Service Technician – UK-Wide Role
Astute’s Renewables Team is partnering with a renewable energy technology provider to recruit a Mechanical Field Service Technician for its UK-wide field-based operations.
This strategically important role offers:

About the Role
Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Mechanical Field Service Technician will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of:
- Biogas upgrading plants
- Gas transport systems
- Anaerobic digestion facilities
- Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on:
- Mechanical systems
- Electrical systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using specialist diagnostic equipment and technical documentation.
- Support commissioning, system upgrades, and refurbishment projects across customer sites.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support during breakdowns and maintenance.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency breakdowns when needed.
- Maintain accurate records for:
- Maintenance documentation
- Service reports
- Spare parts records
- Ensure compliance with QHSE procedures, risk assessments, and site safety regulations.
- Coordinate tools, consumables, service vehicles, and spare parts for operational readiness.

Requirements
Professional Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- A higher qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Maintenance
- Related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in:
- Industrial maintenance
- Servicing
- Field service environments
- Experience with:
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Using diagnostic and maintenance tools in industrial settings
- Previous experience in:
- Biogas
- Anaerobic digestion
- Renewable energy
- Process industries (advantageous)
- Proficiency in IT and experience with:
- CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Field service management software
- Full UK driving licence with a willingness to travel extensively to customer sites.
