Mechanical Maintenance Professional – Gates

What to Expect
An experienced Mechanical Maintenance Professional responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of plant equipment and systems through both reactive and proactive maintenance activities.

- Pay: £55,531.94 (gross per year)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive and proactive maintenance activities across local facilities, with a strong emphasis on compliance and safety.
- Maintain mechanical plant equipment and process machinery, including lifting equipment, high-pressure steam systems, boilers, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Perform mechanical breakdown repairs on all plant and process equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and operational continuity.
- Oversee boiler operations and high-pressure steam systems with adherence to safety standards and regulations.
- Support and mentor apprentices by promoting safety, compliance, and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
- Proactively report any safety or operational concerns to line management to maintain a safe working environment at all times.

Requirements and Preferred Skills
Essential:
✅ Experience with steam, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fire prevention systems ✅ Strong fault-finding and preventative maintenance skills ✅ Open to learning about complex mechanical systems ✅ Clear communicator across all levels of the engineering team ✅ Organised with a logical, solutions-focused approach

✔ City & Guilds or HNC-qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering ✔ Time-served mechanical fitter with post-qualification experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
