Mechanical Engineer (Facilities Management) – Defence Sector
Location: Aldermaston Salary: Up to £42,000 Working Hours: Mon–Fri, 7:45–16:30 (9-day fortnight, every 2nd Friday off – PAID!)
About The Role
EMCOR UK, part of OCS, delivers facilities management for the Defence sector, combining engineering expertise with innovation to support mission-critical environments. We prioritise people, collaborating closely with Defence clients to deliver safe, reliable services across secure sites.
This role involves performing planned and unplanned mechanical engineering tasks, ensuring operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Planned Preventative and Reactive Maintenance is completed to schedule, with timely documentation.
- Support the Line Manager in implementing EMCOR policies, procedures, and standards to maintain service integrity.
- Rectify defects, safety, and performance compliance aligned with contractual requirements.
- Conduct routine maintenance on mechanical systems.
- Supervise specialist contractors, ensuring compliance with certifications and documentation.
- Respond to the Helpdesk for urgent maintenance requests within agreed timescales.
- Promote good housekeeping, safety, and professional representation of EMCOR at all times.

Who We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- A relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC, ONC).
- Proven experience in building services/facilities management.
- Familiarity with:
- PSSR 2000
- Confined space protocols
- Legionella management
- Permit-to-work systems
- Articulateness, numeracy, and IT proficiency required.
- Strong understanding of legislative compliance and contract law.
- Broad knowledge of facilities management and mechanical engineering.
Desirable Qualities
- A successful track record in health and safety assurance.
- Resilience under pressure with confident communication skills.
- Ability to set, implement, and monitor high standards in quality, safety, and operations.
