Location
We are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to work within our maintenance department of our Bioresource West business area, covering Hull at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? We are looking to recruit in the East Yorkshire region, this is a mobile worker, however, your home location will determine the area that you will be covering.

- Permanent
- Hours: 37 hours per week.
- On-Call Rota: Out of hours, weekend working, and bank holidays will be worked as part of a structured stand-by rota. Once fully trained you will be assessed for working on your own and you will be required to participate in an out of hours standby rota which will include evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts, therefore you will need to be flexible outside of core hours.

Role Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will undertake maintenance of Yorkshire Waters Electrical and Mechanical assets across water and wastewater treatment and pumping installations at our Bio-Resource sites. Mobile working as part of a Maintenance Team to deliver Planned & Reactive maintenance. Responding to emergency calls both in and out of hours (on call-out rota). Driving to deliver improved asset reliability through effective decision making.

The Bio-Resources department have multi-disciplined mechanical and electrical teams working across the whole Yorkshire region. Each team has its own geographical area of responsibility but on occasions, members will be expected to work on any Yorkshire water asset. This could be during periods of escalation due to adverse weather or similar.
Where You Fit In
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be required to work unsupervised in remote geographic locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive mechanical tasks within agreed timescales, quality, and cost parameters. Candidates will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively and to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and contract partners. Adhering to the Health and Safety policy and standards actively identifying hazards, providing mitigation, and reporting onto the company hazard database to ensure the cause of the hazard is removed.
- Supervise approved Contract Partners, providing risk assessments and method statements where permit to work is required for a given task.
- Use a Toughbook and/or and iPad to capture all work activity and job status in line with workflow processes.
- Assist in the development and training of apprentices as well as less experienced members of the team, identifying ways to improve the value and service delivered by the Maintenance Function.
- Installation & commission new plant and equipment to relevant standards is essential. Diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plant.
- Pro-actively identify and report follow on work or areas for enhancement.
- Conduct your own risk assessments and create appropriate method statements when required to safely carry out maintenance activities.
- Specify parts and equipment required for procurement as part of day-to-day role.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Recognised Mechanical craft/Technician Apprenticeship
- City & Guilds/ ONC/ BTEC/ NVQ/ HNC/ HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Eng Tech
- Full valid driving licence (with no more than six points)
Desirable Qualifications
- HNC in a Mechanical discipline
- CompEx 11
Mandatory Experience and Knowledge
- Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
- Time served industrial mechanical fitter.
- Working with rotating equipment.
- Ability to produce maintenance reports.
- Fault finding on mechanical systems.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge
- Maintaining and repairing centrifugal, positive displacement, RAM, progressive cavity, diaphragm, peristaltic pumps
- With gearboxes
- With compressors
- Maintaining equipment in accordance with PSSR
- With blowers
- Working with steam systems
- Working with chemical plant
- With hot work/ fabrication and welding
- Operating lifting equipment and slinging
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
Ideally, you will have previous experience gained as a Mechanical Fitter within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors. Experience within a mechanical based environment or site-based fault diagnosis and repair on complex processes and equipment.
As part of this role, you will be required to work within confined spaces, any successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including, BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments.
