Role Summary
Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for experienced Mechanical Fitters to support a major 132/33kV substation project in Basingstoke.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term infrastructure project, carrying out the installation and mechanical assembly of high-voltage primary plant equipment within a substation environment.
Working as part of an experienced site team, you'll be responsible for the safe installation of mechanical equipment while ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards.

- Mechanical installation of primary plant equipment on a 132/33kV substation.
- Installation and assembly of disconnectors, circuit breakers, current transformers (CTs), voltage transformers (VTs) and associated HV equipment.
- Installation of support steelwork, busbars, insulators and associated mechanical components.
- Mechanical assembly, alignment and installation of substation plant.
- Carry out torque tightening to manufacturer specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GA drawings and installation manuals.
- Assist with lifting operations and positioning of heavy plant.
- Complete installation records and quality documentation.
- Work safely in accordance with site procedures, RAMS and Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices.

Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Mechanical Fitter on HV substation projects.
- Experience working on 132kV, 275kV or 400kV substations.
- SSE Authorisation.
- Strong knowledge of primary plant installation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Experience working on transmission or distribution substation projects.
- Excellent mechanical assembly skills.
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
Desirable
- EUSR.
- IPAF.
- CPCS Slinger/Signaller.
- Telehandler.
- MEWP.
- GIS installation experience.
- SSSTS or SMSTS.
