Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder
Location: Luton
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter / Machine Builder to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and testing bespoke machinery and production equipment to high quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on varied and interesting engineering projects within a professional and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and build mechanical machinery from engineering drawings.
- Fit and align mechanical components, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, and pneumatic systems.
- Carry out machine testing and fault-finding where required.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Support installation and commissioning of machinery when required.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, or similar engineering role.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude with a commitment to quality and safety.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with automated machinery or special purpose machines.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Forklift, IPAF, or overhead crane certification (advantageous but not essential).
