Mechanical Inspector

Receipting Inspector – Job Description

Overview

The Receiving Inspector will perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies. Parts will be inspected against:

  • Engineering drawings
  • Customer purchase order(s)
  • Industry standards
  • Applicable specifications The inspector will also be responsible for recording inspection accept/reject decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Report inspection findings by marking acceptance/rejection statuses
  • Validate parts against engineering specifications and customer requirements

Key Requirements

  • Practical experience in Goods-in inspection for complex machined parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Proficiency in ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or an equivalent standard
  • Experience using standard mechanical inspection tools, including micrometers and calipers
  • Bonus: Prior experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) would be advantageous
