Mechanical Lead – Data Centre Project
Location: Berkshire, UK Contract Type: Contract (6–12 months)
About the Role
Lead and oversee the full mechanical package for a large-scale data centre project, ensuring safe, on-time delivery to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage mechanical subcontractors to deliver projects safely and efficiently while meeting programme deadlines.
- Manage the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, and pipework.
- Review project progress, identifying and mitigating risks where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Commissioning Team, Design Team, and Client Representatives.
- Drive quality assurance, inspections (QA/QC), and snagging activities to maintain excellence.
- Support programme management, ensuring project milestones are met promptly.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Lead, Mechanical Manager, or Senior Mechanical Engineer on data centre projects.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems in mission-critical environments (HVAC, chilled water, cooling, pipework, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full mechanical package on large-scale construction projects.
- Essential: Prior experience working on hyperscale or colocation data centres.
- Knowledge of commissioning, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and project delivery methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced project environment.
