Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Ealing, London
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights)
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at a fast-paced food manufacturing facility in Ealing. If you're passionate about fault-finding, preventative maintenance, and keeping production lines running efficiently, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values technical expertise, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
As a key member of the maintenance team, you will support, maintain, and improve production and packing line equipment, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a wide range of production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on manufacturing machinery.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of production and packing lines.
- Minimise downtime through effective fault finding and root cause analysis.
- Work closely with production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance plant performance and reduce breakdowns.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

We are specifically seeking apprentice-trained, mechanically biased maintenance engineers with experience in the FMCG or food manufacturing industry. The successful Maintenance Engineer should have approximately:
- 60% Mechanical experience
- 40% Electrical experience
Minimum Electrical Competencies
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Knowledge of Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) process and clearly understand why it is essential for safe maintenance.
- Fault-find electrical systems down to component level.
- Safely and accurately measure electrical resistance.
- Correctly wire a three-phase motor in both Star and Delta configurations.

Mechanical Competencies
As a true Mechanical Bias Engineer, you should also be fully competent in:
- Mechanical fault finding and repair.
- Bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, conveyors and drive systems.
- Pneumatics and hydraulics.
