🔧 Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer

Love fixing things? Enjoy getting stuck in? Join a team where your skills make a real difference. Some people see a machine that's broken, some see a exciting challenge. Whether it's tracking down the cause of a breakdown, replacing worn components before they become a problem or improving equipment to make it run better, you take pride in keeping things moving. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

At Manthorpe Building Products, we manufacture innovative building products used in homes and commercial buildings across the UK. Behind every product is a team of skilled engineers who keep our production lines operating safely, efficiently and reliably—and we're looking for another Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join them.

As part of the Genuit Group, you'll enjoy the stability of a well-established business alongside a culture that values teamwork, continuous improvement and investing in its people. We believe the best ideas often come from those on the shop floor, so your experience, knowledge and suggestions will always be welcomed.

What does the role involve?

No two shifts are ever quite the same—and that's exactly what makes the job interesting. One day you could be stripping and rebuilding production equipment, replacing bearings, gearboxes or pneumatic components. The next, you'll be responding to a breakdown, carrying out planned maintenance or working on projects to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime. You'll play a key role in keeping production running smoothly and helping the business deliver for its customers every day.

It's a varied, hands-on role where you'll use your mechanical expertise to solve problems, improve equipment and work alongside a supportive engineering team.

What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on production machinery and site equipment.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults quickly and safely.
  • Responding to breakdowns and getting equipment back into production with minimal downtime.
  • Replacing and repairing mechanical components including bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps and pneumatic systems.
  • Supporting electrical engineers where required as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team.
  • Assisting with machinery installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
  • Working closely with production teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Helping maintain engineering stores and ensuring critical spare parts are available.
  • Promoting a safe working environment and following all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve machinery, reduce waste and increase efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
