Mechanical Maintenance Inspector

Tunstead Quarry, Buxton, Derbyshire

Help Keep One of the UK’s Largest Quarry Operations Running at Its Best

Are you a mechanically skilled engineer, inspector or maintenance professional who enjoys identifying issues before they become problems? Do you thrive in heavy industrial environments where you can improve reliability and make a real impact on operational performance? Do you want to join a business that prioritises safety, innovation and sustainability?

We're looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Inspector to join our team at Tunstead Stone - one of the UK's largest and most technically advanced quarry operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in quarrying, aggregates, mining, cement, manufacturing, recycling or other process industries to play a key role in maintaining critical fixed and mobile plant assets.

The Role

Working closely with maintenance, engineering and operational teams, you will monitor plant condition, identify defects and support proactive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and improve reliability.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carrying out planned inspections of fixed plant equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, motors and gearboxes
  • Inspecting mobile plant and identifying wear, defects and deterioration
  • Producing inspection reports and recommending corrective actions
  • Supporting preventative, predictive and planned maintenance activities
  • Assisting with breakdown investigations and root cause analysis
  • Reviewing maintenance work to ensure quality and effectiveness
  • Supporting shutdowns, audits and statutory inspections
  • Maintaining accurate records within maintenance management systems
  • Identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and safety
  • Promoting safe working practices and maintaining high site standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
