Job Description

Costain is working closely with Severn Trent Water on their Capital Delivery Framework, as part of it's capital programme for AMP8. As part of the Design and Build Framework lot, Costain brings together its design, construction, and consultancy expertise to undertake renewal and refurbishment projects and will assist Severn Trent in its target to make continuous improvements to its safety performance, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and consequently lowering costs for its customers.

Following and during the design phase you will be the key point of contact for the Mechanical subcontract packages, Reporting to the designated Project Manager whilst feeding into the Head of Engineering and Design to maintain the continuity through the delivery process.

The Mechanical Engineer will be the conduit from Design through the delivery phase for one or multiple projects across the Framework dependant on project size.

This role will be hybrid, with 3 to 4 days in region (Warwickshire and Worcestershire area).

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Design of wastewater M&E assets e.g., Pumping Stations, CSO`s & associated civil structures etc.
  • Equipment sizing & selection (pumps, mixers, pipework etc).
  • TMA, NRSWA coordination.
  • Early site investigation works coordination.
  • Early procurement of materials.
  • Attendance and input into internal and client design reviews.
  • Involvement with cost to complete / budget reviews with the contract delivery teams.
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Preparation & management of project programmes.
  • Managing Sub-contractors’ programmes
  • Developing and reviewing inspection Test Plans
  • Coordinating site actives with client

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • 5 years of Water Sector Experience
  • DfMA Experience

Desirable

  • NEC 4 Contracts Suit

Qualifications

Essential

  • HNC or higher within Mechanical Engineering discipline

Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional Body
  • CEng
  • CSCS
  • APM or Equivalent qualification
