About The Role
Join our Wastewater Team, maintaining and repairing treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations. You’ll ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence—while supporting innovation within Southern Water’s £7.8bn investment plan (2025-30).
Your Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant/equipment.
- Install new infrastructure as required.
- Troubleshoot alarms/faults, repairing or escalating issues.
- Conduct inspections/testing of mechanical systems (per company protocols).
- Advise internal/external contractors on technical standards.
- Update records in company systems with accuracy and timeliness.
- Accommodate standby coverage (1-in-7 day rota) when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualified NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (certificates provided).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong problem-solving under pressure.
Desirable:
- Experience in the water/wastewater industry.
- Deep knowledge of pumping stations and treatment processes.
- Familiarity with health/safety legislation.
