The Role
As the Mechanical Project Engineer, you will deliver technically challenging mechanical engineering solutions for MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) and Civil projects. Your responsibilities will span design, development, and implementation, requiring technical expertise, problem-solving, and project management from inception to completion in water and wastewater infrastructure.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work as part of a "one team" culture, managing one or more projects simultaneously.
- Lead mechanical design for wastewater treatment projects, overseeing:
- Site surveys
- Feasibility studies
- Detailed design
- Tender pricing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with civil, process, electrical, ICA (Instrumentation, Control & Automation), and H&S teams to ensure integration of mechanical systems.
- Provide technical guidance to internal and external design/project delivery teams.
- Procure and select mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, tanks, pipework) while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations, and project specifications.
- Manage subcontractors, ensuring quality, alignment with project timelines, and adherence to contractual requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and enforce safety standards.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide technical updates and ensure project objectives are met.
- Uphold health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance standards in line with company and client guidelines.
- Prepare detailed project plans, reports, and status updates, identifying key risks and mitigation strategies.
- Participate in project reviews, sharing lessons learned for future improvements and company-wide enhancements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive work culture.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or working towards) is preferred.
- At least 3 years as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in water and wastewater.
Key Competencies
- Project management skills (budget, timeline, resource optimisation).
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration (working with civil, electrical, and process teams).
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking (resolving technical challenges effectively).
- Regulatory expertise in health, safety, and environmental compliance for mechanical design and construction.
- Technical software proficiency:
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project (desirable)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Full UK Driving License.
