Mechanical Reliability Engineer
Senior Maintenance Electrical Instrumentation (I&E) Engineer

Accountabilities
- Accountable for maintenance support and tactical execution of asset and reliability activities
- Provides professional engineering support for maintenance and reliability of I&E (Instrumental & Electrical) systems
- Ensures compliance with site standards and external regulatory requirements
- Plays a key role in identifying and implementing I&E improvements to enhance:
- Reliability
- Maintainability
- Safety
- Efficiency by increasing quality and reducing costs
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability Support
- Completes moderately complex value-added preventive maintenance investigations under direction of the Reliability and Integrity Leader
- Requests Reliability Technicians to undertake investigations, selecting applicable predictive and non-destructive testing methodologies
- Assists the Project Engineering team by examining reliability and maintainability of new or modified installations
Problem Solving & Root-Cause Analysis
- Consistently applies root-cause failure analysis (RCA, RCFA) techniques when handling moderately complex reliability issues
- Provides Technical Support to:
- Production teams
- Maintenance management
- Technical personnel
Decision-Making & Process Adherence

Applies value analysis for repair/replace, repair/design, and make/buy decisions

Utilises Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) process for existing and new assets

Attends, audits, and improves meetings as required by the Optimisation, Engineering & Reliability (OE&R) process

Qualifications & Required Skills
Academic Background
- HNC/HND in Science or Engineering
- *Preferable: Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Membership in Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)
Core Experience
- Demonstrable experience in process engineering within a continuous manufacturing environment
- Preferably in a top-tier, COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards)-regulated site
- Proven adherence to and effective use of legislative Process Safety systems and procedures
- Excellence in both written and verbal communication
Business Skills & Competencies

- Technical Analysis:
- Capable of conducting problem-solving using methodologies like Six Sigma, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and RCM
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), and trip schedules
- Project Management Knowledge & Tools:
- Understanding of planning and scheduling
- Experience with RCA (Root Cause Analysis), design considerations for bolted flange arrangements
- Digital Literacy:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP systems
- Ethical Practice:
- Functions as a role model aligning with Tronox’s code of business ethics and standards
Analytical & Motivational Expertise
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates rigorous precision in both tasks and decision-making
- Leadership: Inspires teams in informal environments to deliver sustainable results
- Coaching Abilities:
- Trains and mentors for techs, supervisors, and engineers
- Provides constructive coaching and feedback to enhance team performance
Technical & Information Skills
Multidisciplinary Expertise
- Capable of leading or collaborating in multidisciplinary teams
- Compiles management reports, capital investment proposals, maintenance instructions, and training materials

Data-Driven Decision Making
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets diverse quantitative and qualitative data
- Experience in participating in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) sessions
Legislation & Compliance
- In-depth knowledge of industrial regulations, including:
- Safety legislation framework: Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations
- ATEX (Explosive Atmospheres) & DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations)
- Design norms (ASME B31.3 & ISO/Pressure Equipment Directive PED)
Advanced Training Sessions
- Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- RCM facilitation training (or candidate for this)
- Formal training and proficiency in FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
- Application of principles outlined in API 579,endasuring Asset Integrity and Reliability
