Mechanical Supervisor

Mechanical Supervisor – Dungeness (Altrad Babcock Mechanical Team)

About the Role

Altrad are seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead their mechanical team at Dungeness, a key site supporting ongoing operations for the client (NRS). This role requires comprehensive oversight of mechanical work, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance across maintenance, repairs, and technical documentation.


Key Deliverables

  • Direct a team of mechanical technicians, assigning tasks for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Monitor mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment to detect and resolve issues promptly
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets specs, safety standards, and quality guidelines
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals for installations, maintenance, and repairs
  • Manage spare parts and mechanical supplies inventory, including ordering and tracking
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, incidents, inspections, and activities
  • Train, guide, and support team members to enhance skills and compliance
  • Respond quickly to mechanical emergencies to minimize downtime and prevent damage
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, policies, and legal requirements
  • Coordinate with NRS and cross-departmental teams for project, decommissioning, and maintenance activities
  • Evaluate equipment performance and propose upgrades or replacements as needed
  • Understand and facilitate working to permits and safety documentation
  • Complete and submit weekly timesheets for the team

Key Requirements

  • Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline
    • Certification/diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field
  • Experience:

    • Proven track record in mechanical maintenance, installation, or repair
    • Previous supervisory or team leadership responsibilities
    • Familiarity with mechanical systems, tools, and safety procedures
