About the Role
AVRS, part of Galliford Try, seeks an ambitious Mechanical Supervisor to join our high-performing team and support long-term projects within the Water Treatment Sector.
We are redefining quality and sustainability for water infrastructure, acting as Principal Contractor and Principal Designer, and supporting Tier 1 contractors on projects ranging from £5k to £10m.
This is a step towards stability and professional growth within our thriving fluid services team.
Responsibilities
The Mechanical Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Safely leading a team of mechanical fitters to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest-quality standards.
- Ensuring all installations adhere to client specifications, AVRS mechanical safety rules, and all legal compliance.
- Promoting and embedding AVRS’s safety-first culture while upholding Health & Safety legislation.
- Overseeing technical compliance, quality plans, and contract requirements within operational and regulatory frameworks.
- Coaching and mentoring Electrical Improvers and Apprentices to support skills development.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to maintain smooth execution of projects.
About You
Essential Requirements
- SSSTS (Site Safety Supervisors Training Standard) Certificate or equivalent (or equivalent qualification suitable for leadership roles).
- Proven ability to manage workloads independently with minimal supervision.
- Relevant trade qualification (mechanical or fluid services-related).
- Significant industrial experience, including supervisory or project-based meaning.
- Current CSCS or CCNSG card (valid).
- Emergency First Aid or Full First Aid Certificate.
- Full UK driving licence (mandatory for all roles with travel demands).

Desirable Qualifications
- EUSR Water Hygiene Accreditation.
- Experience in the water industry, particularly large asset management projects.
- PASMA, IPAF, or Confined Space Training (advantageous for multi-site roles).
- Medical: Fitness-to-Work Certificate (preferred).
