Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Nights)

Location

Wellingborough

Salary

£40,000 – £45,000 (Experience Dependent)

Shift Pattern

3 night on, 2 off, 3 nights on, 4 off (12-hour shifts, 7–7)

About the Role

We are recruiting for a leading global manufacturer operating within a fast-paced production environment, supplying high-quality packaging solutions to major brands. The site offers a modern, well-invested facility with a strong focus on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs on mechanical and hydraulic systems across production equipment
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise machinery reliability and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective, long-term solutions to minimise downtime
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance (OEE)
  • Maintain and service site equipment, utilities, and general mechanical systems
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations
  • Complete maintenance records and ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
  • Assist with basic electrical fault finding and repair where required

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Strong mechanical maintenance background within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
  • Basic electrical fault-finding ability (desirable, not essential)
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults and carry out efficient repairs
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills
