What will you be doing?

  • Maintain the integrity of mechanical systems ensuring compliance with company and statutory requirements and in response to breakdowns.
  • To oversee and develop a system which implements and records the completion of maintenance and inspection on plant and equipment at allocated locations.
  • Perform other maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage Terminals and pipeline systems operated by BPA.
  • Provide maintenance and inspection services to maintain 98% plant availability targets within COMAH Top Tier storage Terminals and pipeline systems operated by BPA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain competency and authorisation to work on high-pressure mechanical systems in compliance with DSEAR, ATEX, and PSSR regulations
  • Perform and supervise maintenance, testing, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical systems, including high-pressure equipment, pumps, storage tanks, actuation systems, and oily water treatment systems.
  • Prepare risk assessments, issuing permits and certificates, and overseeing safe working practices for internal staff and contractors.
  • Support engineering projects by contributing to planning and execution stages, ensuring safety and operational standards are met.
  • Supervise works near buried pipelines, following established safety procedures.
  • Respond to operational emergencies, liaising with emergency services and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Operate with delegated authority to define safe working conditions for activities on BPA sites.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out roster for trouble shooting and corrective maintenance on a 24/7 - 365-day basis. Work additional hours as reasonably expected to fulfil extraordinary maintenance and inspection duties and project work which will occasionally necessitate night working.

What will you need?

  • A recognised professional qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard or extensive demonstrable experience in lieu of this.
  • Awareness of fundamental Health and Safety practices in the workplace.
  • Experience of maintenance, Root cause fault analysis and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
  • Full Driving Licence.
