Mechanical Technician

Morson Edge is supporting the recruitment of a Mechanical Technician to support aircraft maintenance operations at RAF Valley on the Hawk fast jet.

This role will involve carrying out detailed mechanical maintenance activities across aircraft and aircraft components within a fast-paced operational environment, supporting aircraft availability, safety, and operational readiness. The successful candidate will work within a skilled maintenance team, undertaking fault diagnosis, repairs, servicing, and system testing while maintaining compliance with approved technical procedures and regulatory requirements.

Key Information

  • Location: RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey
  • Position: Permanent, £31,574.97
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week plus shifts
  • Additional shift allowance applicable
  • Environment: Military Aviation / Aircraft Maintenance

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete mechanical maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and components
  • Undertake scheduled servicing, repairs, rectifications, and system testing
  • Analyse and diagnose mechanical faults and support effective repairs
  • Support improvements to maintenance procedures and operational practices
  • Work in accordance with approved technical information and maintenance instructions
  • Maintain personal competencies in line with MOE requirements
  • Support compliance activities including tooling control and documentation checks
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Work effectively within a busy operational maintenance environment

Requirements

  • Experience within an aircraft maintenance or aviation engineering environment
  • Ability to work to approved maintenance instructions and safety-critical procedures
  • Strong fault diagnosis and practical mechanical maintenance skills
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work within a regulated and operationally focused environment

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally Aeronautical or military equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 Aeronautical discipline
  • Airframe and Propulsion trade training
  • Computer literate
