What Will You Be Doing?
Your primary role will involve:
- Maintaining the integrity of mechanical systems to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements, including responses to breakdowns.
- Overseeing and developing a system for implementing and recording maintenance and inspections on plant and equipment at allocated locations.
- Performing maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems operated by BPA.
- Ensuring 98% plant availability targets within COMAH-regulated systems.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain competency and authorisation to work on high-pressure mechanical systems compliant with DSEAR, ATEX, and PSSR regulations.
- Perform and supervise maintenance, testing, fault-finding, and repairs on high-pressure equipment, pumps, storage tanks, actuation systems, and oily water treatment systems.
- Prepare risk assessments, issue permits and certificates, and oversee safe working practices for internal staff and contractors.
- Contribute to engineering projects by aiding planning and execution, ensuring safety and operational standards are upheld.
- Supervise works near buried pipelines while adhering to established safety procedures.
- Liaise with emergency services and regulatory bodies to resolve operational emergencies.
- Operate with delegated authority to define safe working conditions across BPA sites.
Participate in an out-of-hours call-out roster for troubleshooting and corrective maintenance on a 24/7/365 basis. Additional hours may be required sparingly to achieve extraordinary maintenance or projects, potentially involving night work.
What Will You Need?
Essential:
- A recognised professional qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent standard, or extensive demonstrable experience.
- Awareness of fundamental Health and Safety practices.
- Experience in maintenance, root-cause fault analysis, and the ability to work under pressure, performing emergency response duties (including interfacing with emergency services and regulatory bodies).
- A full UK driving licence.

Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: £35,000 + overtime and standby allowance.
