Mechanical Technician

Location: Isle of Anglesey, Wales

Compensation: Competitive salary + benefits

Role Type: Full-time / Permanent

Role ID: SF72169

About the Role

Play a Key Role in Keeping Aircraft Mission-Ready

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Mechanical Technician at RAF Valley, near Holyhead, Anglesey.

The Role

As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll be an experienced and skilled member of our maintenance team, undertaking detailed mechanical activities across aircraft and components. Your work ensures aircraft are maintained, rectified, and prepared to meet their daily operational tasks — directly supporting fast-jet training and contributing to aviation safety.

You’ll maintain and develop your technical competence, work to approved data and maintenance instructions, and support a busy operational environment where flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Completing mechanical maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and components, including scheduled servicing, system tests, repairs, and rectifications.
  • Analysing and diagnosing mechanical faults, applying technical knowledge to identify solutions and support safe and effective repairs.
  • Reviewing operational performance of aircraft components and helping implement improvements to procedures and maintenance practices.
  • Maintaining your personal competencies in line with the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) and operating strictly to approved technical information.
  • Supporting compliance activities across the maintenance facility, including tooling control, documentation checks, and other mandated processes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
