Test Engineer – Mechanical / Physical Testing | Full-Time | On-Site | Halifax
We are working with a successful manufacturing and engineering business in Halifax that is looking to recruit a Test Engineer to join its dedicated product testing team.
You'll be working within a specialist test facility, setting up test equipment, preparing rigs, conducting physical testing and supporting the development of innovative products used across industrial environments.
The Role
As a Test Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, accurate and repeatable product testing activities. You'll work closely with engineering, product development and operational teams to ensure testing supports project objectives and product performance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing test areas, rigs and equipment for physical product testing
- Conducting testing activities in line with recognised standards and procedures
- Recording, analysing and interpreting test results
- Producing clear technical reports and documentation
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of testing methods and processes
- Assisting with the planning, scheduling and coordination of testing activities
- Working closely with engineering, product development and operational teams
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and compliance
- Supporting and mentoring technicians where required
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the testing function

Requirements
- At least 1 year experience working as a Test Engineer, Mechanical Test Engineer or similar within a physical product testing, V&V, test facility or practical engineering environment
- Experience conducting testing to recognised standards such as BS, ISO, PAS, ANSI or equivalent
- Experience working within a test facility or controlled engineering environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with physical products, tools and test equipment
- The ability to analyse technical data and produce accurate reports
- A good understanding of health & safety and quality procedures
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across engineering and operations teams

Desirable Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Product Validation or Verification (V&V) experience
- Experience testing safety equipment, barrier systems or polymer-based products
- Exposure to impact, durability, structural or mechanical testing
- Experience using specialist measurement equipment, instrumentation or high-speed cameras
