Mechanical Ventilation Engineer
Location: Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Ventilation Engineer to join our on-site team supporting the critical infrastructure at the prestigious Pinewood Studios.
Job Summary
The Mechanical Ventilation Engineer will be responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and installation of all mechanical ventilation and air handling systems across the Pinewood Studios complex. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal air quality, temperature control, and compliance within specialized spaces, including sound stages, production offices, and data facilities.

The successful candidate must possess deep technical knowledge of large-scale ventilation systems and an unwavering commitment to health and safety regulations, particularly within a busy, high-end production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Operations:
- Execute scheduled Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) routines on all ventilation equipment, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), extraction systems, fans, motors, dampers, VAV/VRF systems, and ductwork.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns, diagnosing complex mechanical faults and implementing effective, long-term repairs.
- Conduct detailed inspections of ductwork systems, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with industry standards (e.g., TR19 Fire Safety requirements).
- Perform essential tasks such as belt replacement, bearing lubrication, filter changes, and fan speed adjustments/balancing.
- Collaborate closely with the wider HVAC and M&E teams to ensure system synergy and efficiency.
- Oversee and manage specialist sub-contractors when necessary, ensuring all work adheres to site standards and specifications.

Required Qualifications And Experience
- Formal Qualification: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent City & Guilds qualification) in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, or Ventilation Systems.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in maintaining and installing large-scale mechanical ventilation systems, preferably within commercial, industrial, or critical environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of AHU operation, fan coil units (FCUs), VAV/VRF systems, and complex duct distribution networks. Must have experience with pressure leak testing and refrigerant system repair. Experience with complex system fault finding and error code diagnostics.
