Mechanical or electronic devices are a normal part of our everyday lives. Self checkouts, vending machines, parking meters, and slot machines—all collaborate with technology made by Crane Payment Innovations (CPI). Our systems enable more than 4 billion transactions every week in over 143 currencies globally, powering everything from cash and coins to mobile payments. With headquarters in Malvern, PA, CPI operates eight manufacturing sites, eleven corporate offices, and 43 service branches to support over 2,500 global associates.
About the Role
As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will develop, implement, and improve processes in operations that reduce labor costs while boosting Safety, Quality, and Delivery. Leveraging the latest manufacturing methods and technology, your work will ensure products are created efficiently and cost-effectively, fully complying with health and safety standards and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical support – Provide day-to-day second-level support for existing equipment.
- Process automation – Specify and design automated assembly and test equipment.
- Integration & Line optimisation – Integrate electro-mechanical automation equipment into production lines.
- Custom fixture development – Build mechanical jigs and fixtures for manufacturing needs.
- Production automation – Configure, program, and validate automated equipment.
- Improvement projects – Propose and implement Design for Assembly (DfA) automation enhancements.
- Technical documentation – Develop design documents for mechanical parts and final products.
- Tooling & Materials – Select appropriate tools and materials for manufacturing processes.
- Continuous learning – Attend workshops, training, and conferences to stay ahead of industry advancements.

Requirements
CPI seeks leaders who drive efficiency in manufacturing and embrace innovation. You must demonstrate the following:
Qualifications
- A BEng in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent in mechanical/electronic engineering.
- 2+ years working in production line automation development within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to analyze, solve problems, and think creatively.
- Experience with Kaizen, Continuous Improvement (CI).
- Programming and debugging of robotic controls, PLCs, and automation systems.
- Exceptional teamwork skills—can collaborate effectively or work independently.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and PC systems.
- Experience with SolidWorks Mechanical CAD.
- Practical skills in mechanical fitting and assembly.
- Commitment to quality processes, error-proofing, and improvement techniques.
- Knowledge of pneumatic control systems.
