Media Analyst Role
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Data Analytics & Media Intelligence, the Media Analyst plays a critical role in preparing media coverage analysis reports for clients. This includes:
- Understanding client needs
- Designing reporting approaches
- Coordinating execution
- Reviewing work
- Delivering polished final products
This analytical, editorial, project-oriented, and client-facing role demands strong communication, ownership, editorial judgment, and the ability to thrive under pressure. While technical skills can be developed, exceptional soft skills, curiosity, and calmness are essential.
Responsibilities
Media Monitoring and Analysis
- Develop expertise in Agility’s platforms and tools to monitor and evaluate media coverage across print, online, broadcast, blogs, and social media.
- Analyze media coverage using quantitative and qualitative methods, including:
- Tagging and categorization
- Sentiment analysis
- Data cleaning
- Trend identification
- Narrative synthesis
- Validation of automated outputs
- Create executive-ready reports with:
- Clear, concise writing
- Intuitive data visualizations
- Practical insights grounded in evidence
- Attention to accuracy, balance, and quality
Client Understanding and Communication
- Develop a deep working knowledge of assigned client accounts, including:
- Reporting goals
- Recurring sensitivities
- Communication preferences
- Ask thoughtful questions to clarify client needs and translate them into:
- Repeatable reporting approaches
- High-quality criteria for outputs
- Communicate professionally via email, phone, and video, demonstrating:
- Maturity
- Clarity
- Consultative approach
- Respond promptly to client inquiries, feedback, or concerns with:
- Calmness and professionalism
- Proactive problem-solving
- Appropriate escalation when necessary
Project and Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of recurring and ad-hoc media reports, ensuring:
- On-time delivery
- High-quality standards
- Oversee the full report lifecycle:
- Data gathering
- Analysis
- Review
- Delivery
- Balance multiple deadlines while maintaining:
- Strong attention to detail
- Early risk identification
- Escalate concerns proactively when impacts to quality or timelines arise.
Collaboration, Tool Utilisation, and Process Improvement
- Collaborate effectively with:
- Team members (Canadian, Philippine analysts)
- Client Success colleagues
- Designers and managers
- Internal stakeholders
- Provide constructive, actionable feedback on colleague work.
- Translate client context for teams, clarifying:
- Reporting expectations
- Data requirements
- Writing standards
- Presentation needs
- Optimise processes using:
- Excel, PowerPoint, Agility platforms
- Approved AI-assisted tools
- Automation strategies to improve efficiency
- Support training, documentation, and process improvements.

- Comfort interacting with clients and stakeholders via email, phone, and video.

- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to accuracy, tone, structure, and nuance.

- Interest in news, PR, communications, social media, and digital analytics.

- Reliable organisation and time management—prioritise and execute multiple projects methodically.

- Occasional flexibility for time-sensitive client needs (limited/hours outside standard work time).
Experience and Technical Skills
- Industry Relevance (Desirable but not mandatory)
- Background in media analysis, data analysis, market research, public relations, journalism, or digital marketing.
- Experience working with clients or external stakeholders.
- Education (Advantageous but not required)
- Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Market Research, Data Analytics, Business, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- Technical Proficiency
- Excel & PowerPoint (advanced skills a plus).
- Willingness to adapt to new tools, platforms, and workflows.
- Basic statistics, data quality, and visualisation knowledge (e.g., infographics, dashboards).
- Confidence using approved AI tools for efficiency, writing, or quality assurance.
