Population Matters is a UK-based charity working globally to promote a future in which people live in harmony with nature on a healthy, sustainable planet. Role Description
The Media and Public Relations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Berlin. This role is responsible for developing and implementing media and PR strategies that increase awareness of Population Matters’ mission, campaigns, and research.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Drafting and distributing press releases
- Managing media inquiries
- Building strong relationships with journalists and media outlets
- Coordinating interviews and media briefings
- Preparing spokespersons
- Ensuring consistent, accurate messaging across channels
The role also involves:
- Monitoring media coverage
- Analyzing impact
- Supporting strategic communications planning
- Collaborating with campaign, research, and digital teams to align messaging and maximize reach
Qualifications
- Strong media and public relations skills, including experience with Media Relations and Public Relations.
- Proficiency in Strategic Communications, with the ability to plan and execute coherent messaging across campaigns.
- Ability to draft clear, compelling Press Releases and other media materials tailored to diverse audiences.
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in representing the organization externally.
- Experience in non-profit, advocacy, or environmental sectors is highly beneficial.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, including monitoring media coverage and evaluating PR outcomes.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills, particularly German, are an asset.
- Commitment to the values of sustainability, human rights, gender equality, and global justice.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
