About the Role
The Media Relations Manager reports to the Director of Communications and collaborates with the Associate Director of International Operations and Business Development in London through a dotted-line relationship. This role is critical in coordinating communications and business development initiatives across global offices. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, driven professional capable of identifying promotional opportunities, leading the development of a comprehensive communications and public relations strategy, and ensuring cohesive messaging across the firm’s London, Dubai, Dublin, and Brussels offices. The role requires an outgoing, collaborative spirit, excellent work ethic, and the ability to forge strong relationships with lawyers, internal communications teams, and media professionals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Position the firm and attorneys in the media as thought leaders within:
- Legal trade publications
- Industry media
- Business/financial press
- Host press meetings and similar events
- Develop strategic media relationships by:
- Maintaining updated contact lists of editors, reporters, and journalists
- Fielding requests from external media
- Adapting responses and interview assistance for firm attorneys
- Proactively identify and secure media opportunities by:
- Leveraging market research to target relevant voices and stories
- Drafting attorney talking points for media interviews
- Participating in attorney media training programs
- Gain deep familiarity with:
- Firm practice areas
- Client needs
- Communications priorities across all regional offices
- Schedule and lead media events—e.g. press events and conferences—in alignment with legal leadership.
- Engage with strategic partners to capitalise on:
- Emerging legal trends
- Disruptive issues
- Suggesting effective ways for lawyers to engage new audiences thoughtfully.
- Develop thought leadership by:
- Collaborating with lawyers on pitches for press articles
- Ensuring content is pitched strategically to industry media environments
- Coordinate with U.S.-based teams to refine:
- Global content strategy
- Identifying themes
- Researching placement and paid content opportunities
- Assess and prepare firm-related entries for:
- Awards, recognitions and directories (where applicable)
- Develop and disseminate firm communications, including:
- Press releases
- Suitability/relevancy promotes
- External marketing assets
- Protect the firm’s reputation by:
- Assisting crisis communications
- Handling internal executive communications
- Liaising with external PR agencies when necessary

Secondary Functions
- Mapping communication gaps with the International Practice Director to:
- Expedite news and insights sharing
- Draft efficient office-wide internal email communications
- Ensuring narrative consistency with the Director of Internal Communications:
- Aligning firm-wide written communication efforts
- Transactional communication for Talent & Office Operations:
- Supporting writing, editing and publication of London’s fortnightly newsletter
- Negotiating with HR/Talent staff and London Associates
- Quality assurance:
- Monitoring and reporting on activities
- Measuring effectiveness in strategic messaging distribution
- Internal coaching and interventions:
- Serving as key point person for Business Development, HR/Talent, and operational leadership
- Ensuring branding and messaging align with the firm’s Overreach objectives
- Promoting individual partner visibility via:
- LinkedIn outreach, guidance, and best practice advice
- Support cross-timezone initiatives with the U.S.-based team, including:
- Web content management as needed
- Liaison for social content distribution
- Facilitating U.S.–UK content swaps/alignments when evenings/daylight span employer hours
