Media Technician – Full-Time Role
Location: Coastland College Department: Media
About the Role
Due to continued growth within the Media Department, Coastland College is seeking to appoint a full-time Media Technician to support our expanding Further Education courses, ranging from Level 1 to degree level.
We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our high-performing Media team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support for learning, delivering technical instruction, skills-based training and demonstrations to students while operating and maintaining media, AV and IT equipment to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Facility Management
- Set up, operate, and maintain a wide range of media equipment, including cameras, lighting, sound, and post-production software
- Prepare studios, editing suites and specialist classrooms for teaching and events
- Ensure all media, AV and IT equipment is safe and fully operational
- Manage booking systems and inventory records, including ordering equipment and consumables

Student & Event Support
- Support, instruct, and guide students in camera operation, lighting, sound, and post-production
- Continuously review and improve practice based on feedback
- Oversight of departmental housekeeping, including equipment distribution
- Assist with college events, exhibitions, and open days, including AV setup

- Health & Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
- Instruct and approve risk assessments for student projects
Requirements & Additional Notes
- Experience in media technology, AV support, or technical instruction is essential
- Strong technical capabilities in maintaining equipment and troubleshooting issues
- Ability to train and guide students in technical skills
- Encouraged to apply even if experience doesn’t align perfectly—talent and passion matter most
- Enhanced DBS check required due to safeguarding obligations
