Medical Advisor – Cardiovascular & Lipid Portfolio

About the Role

The Medical Advisor will be a key member of the Medical Affairs team, acting as the scientific expert for our cardiovascular (CV) and lipid portfolio.

You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful scientific exchanges, generate valuable medical insights, and contribute to the development and execution of the medical strategy.

As a trusted scientific partner, you will engage with:

  • Healthcare professionals (HCPs)
  • Key opinion leaders (KOLs)
  • Cross-functional teams

Ensuring all activities align with regulatory requirements and highest ethical standards is a priority.


Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all medical activities comply with:
    • Industry regulations (e.g., ABPI)
    • Ethical standards
    • Company policies
  • Conduct non-promotional scientific exchanges
  • Act as final signatory for medical and promotional materials, certifying adherence to:
    • ABPI Code of Practice
    • Pharmaceutical Marketing Code (PMCPA) regulations

Operational Management

  • Oversee medical budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics (KPIs)

Insight Generation

  • Analyse field insights collected by the team to identify:
    • Gaps in clinical knowledge
    • Competitive intelligence
    • Opportunities to inform company strategy

Scientific Partnership & Engagement

  • Build and maintain peer-to-peer scientific relationships with:
    • HCPs
    • NHS stakeholders
    • KOLs
    • Clinical experts in CVRM (Cardiovascular Risk Management) and lipid management
  • Serve as a trusted source of scientific information
  • Support complex stakeholder interactions

Evidence-Based Dialogue

  • Lead discussions on:
    • Emerging data
    • Therapeutic guidelines
    • Real-world evidence relevant to Menarini’s CVRM and lipid portfolio
  • Present complex data in clear, clinically relevant ways

Clinical Trials Support

  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for:
    • Company-sponsored trials
    • Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs)
  • Ensure alignment with strategic objectives and clinical understanding of Menarini’s CVRM portfolio

Medical Information & Education

  • Respond to unsolicited medical enquiries
  • Deliver scientific content in compliance with:
    • Regulatory requirements
    • Company policies
  • Provide:
    • Internal and external training on therapy areas and data

Strategic Collaboration

  • Act as the medical voice in cross-functional teams, contributing to:
    • Brand strategy
    • Market access planning
    • HCP engagement initiatives

Congress & Meeting Support

  • Represent Menarini at key scientific congresses and symposia
  • Support planning and execution of:
    • Advisory boards
    • Scientific events
    • HCP engagement activities
  • Lead scientific exchange meetings

Qualifications

Essential

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD), Pharmacy degree, PhD, or equivalent scientific qualification
  • Clinical background in:
    • Cardiology
    • Internal Medicine
    • Cardiovascular Medicine
    • Related therapeutic areas
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Cardiovascular Risk Management (CVRM)
    • Current treatment guidelines
  • Excellent:
    • Communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific/clinical data
  • Strong:
    • Stakeholder management
    • Relationship-building skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to:
    • Travel nationally
    • Occasionally travel internationally

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Previous Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • ABPI Final Signatory status (or actively pursuing certification)
  • Experience engaging with:
    • KOLs
    • Healthcare professionals
  • Experience supporting:
    • Clinical research
    • Investigator-Initiated Studies (IITs)
