Certified Medical Assistant

Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Rooming patients and documenting all vital information
  • Scribing information for the dermatologist
  • Providing post-op wound care to patients
  • Drawing blood and suture removal
  • Cleaning and stocking exam rooms
  • Scheduling patient appointments

  • Supporting the dermatologist in conducting procedures, including:
    • Surgical photographs
    • Biopsies – punch, DIF, and shave
    • Excisions
    • Electrodessication and curettage
    • I&D (incision and drainage)
    • Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
    • Phototherapy
    • Injections
    • Koh preps
    • Trichograms
    • Tzank preps
    • Dermabrasion
    • Patch testing
    • Blue light therapy

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Post-high school education in a medical support field (e.g., Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse) is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
  • Must maintain current state certifications, licenses, and/or registrations for employment continuity
  • Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently and collaboratively with staff, clients, and visitors
