The Medical Day Unit

The Medical Day Unit is a busy Monday to Friday clinic. Patients attend at planned timed appointments for specific treatments to manage long term illnesses. MDU is an increasingly growing nurse led clinic providing a service for all adult specialty services, including biologic medicines, dynamic blood testing/investigations with minor interventions.

Role Requirements

  • Work cohesively within a small team.
  • Assess, treat/discharge day case patients.
  • Take charge of clinical area.
  • Safely delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Recognise and respond to emergency situations.
  • Act as a role model/mentor to junior staff/students.
  • Communicate efficiently and openly with colleagues, consultants, patients, and family members.
  • Adhere to IPAC compliance and escalate concerns appropriately.
