Medical Education Clinical Skills Technician – York Hospital
Join our busy and forward-thinking Medical Education Team at York Hospital for an exciting opportunity to support high-quality medical training and education.
About the Role
The Medical Education Clinical Skills Technician is a key role in our education service, helping to plan, prepare, and assist in delivering teaching and training for doctors across all career stages, as well as supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.
This non-patient-facing position focuses on ensuring our education and development programmes meet current and future clinician needs. You’ll work closely with clinical educators and learners, using an extensive range of equipment, including:
- High-fidelity patient simulators
- Clinical skills training models
- Advanced surgical simulators
Additionally, there will be opportunities to contribute to bespoke teaching models, enhancing our innovative training programmes. This role combines technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration to make a meaningful impact on medical education and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with Course Faculty Leads (clinicians and educators) to identify requirements for medical education courses and organise equipment and materials for training events.
- Manage stock of consumable equipment, order replacements when necessary, and consider budgetary constraints.
- Develop and fabricate medical training models using innovative methods.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding servicing, repairs, and purchases of clinical skills equipment.
- Network with other hospitals and Trust Simulation Teams to improve training protocols.
- Work alongside Trust Sim Leads on Simulation Scenarios and protocols to enhance clinical knowledge within the Trust.
- Maintain and repair medical education equipment to ensure readiness for teaching sessions.
- Set up and clear away clinical courses, ensuring clinical equipment is available during sessions.
- Collaborate with the administration team to provide necessary resources for courses.
- Provide training for staff in the use of high-fidelity simulators, training models, and mannequins as needed.

Note: The role may require occasional work at Scarborough Medical Education Centre to support courses.
Requirements & Qualifications
While not explicitly listed, this role would benefit from:
