Medical Examiner

We are seeking an experienced and motivated medical professional to join our team as a Medical Examiner at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). The ideal candidate will be resilient, clinically credible, possess integrity, and have strong communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse range of people.

The postholder will be part of a team of Medical Examiners based at UCLH, which includes scrutinising all inpatient deaths at UCLH, the Royal Marsden Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), Moorfields Eye Hospital, and Camden Community. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and independent review of patients' deaths and the proper completion of death certification processes. You will collaborate closely with clinicians and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality services.

  • Scrutinise certified causes of death to ensure compliance with national protocols and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including coroners, healthcare providers, and faith leaders.
  • Conduct sensitive discussions with bereaved families to explain the causes of death and address concerns.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audits, and training to improve death certification processes and patient safety.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
