Medical Field Service Engineer, Pathology Laboratory Diagnostics

Overview & Total Package

Total earnings: Circa £50,000

  • Basic salary: Up to £45,000
  • Bonus: 10%
  • Company benefits:

The Role

This market leader in medical diagnostics seeks a technically motivated and customer-focused Medical Field Service Engineer with responsibility for:

  • Service, installation, breakdown, repair and calibration of sophisticated medical laboratory diagnostics systems, used in:
    • Pathology departments
    • NHS laboratories
    • Clinical chemistry environments
  • Technical support for clinical chemistry and blood diagnostics products at customer sites.

Your Background & Experience

To thrive in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • Proven engineering experience in a customer-facing field service capacity, ideally within high-value capital equipment environments (but applications are broadly welcomed).
  • Warmly encouraged from engineers with diverse backgrounds, including:
    • Laboratory/medical device,
    • Pharmaceutical device experience,
    • Ex-forces engineers (technical or medical/dental specialisms),
    • Aviation/electronic/electro-mechanical sectors.

Preferred Experience

Experience with diagnostics-field products, notably within:

  • Autoimmune diagnostics,
  • Immunology,
  • Biochemistry,
  • Haematology,
  • Histology,
  • Microbiology, or
  • Immunodiagnostics systems.

Qualification Requirements

At minimum ONC level, City & Guilds, or NVQ, in:

  • Engineering, electronics, or a science-based subject — broad discipline qualifications are welcome, given comprehensive training.
