Medical Affairs Lead – United Kingdom
About the Role
We are seeking a Medical Affairs Lead to design and implement the UK-focused medical strategy, driving healthcare professional (HCP) education, evidence generation, and engagement within the diabetes space. The role involves leading a team, collaborating across cross-functional partners, and ensuring alignment with global and local objectives to support product launches, market access, and adoption of Insulet’s solutions.
As part of the regional leadership team, this position requires:
- Deep scientific expertise in diabetes
- Leadership skills in pharma or medical devices
- Experience driving medical affairs strategies from strategy to execution
Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and oversee the UK Medical Affairs strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Commercial, Marketing, Market Access, and Regulatory teams for efficient go-to-market execution
- Contribute to global Medical Affairs initiatives while ensuring local ownership of UK strategy

Medical Education & Engagement
- Design and deliver blended medical education (webinars, on-demand training, peer-to-peer sessions)
- Host educational content at congresses and symposiums, supporting HCP training
- Develop medical content for product training based on current clinical data

Evidence Generation & Dissemination
- Inform evidence generation plans to meet market access, regulatory, and marketing needs
- Support investigator- and company-sponsored trials
- Contribute to deploying findings through external sharing (publications, congresses)

HCP & KOL Engagement
- Build and maintain scientific relationships with UK/regional Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
- Organize advisory boards, scientific exchanges, and educational events to gather insights
- Advocate for Omnipod’s benefits among HCPs and key external influencers

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Transfer clinical insights into actionable strategies for HCPs, sales teams, and internal stakeholders
- Review medical content in Veeva for scientific accuracy across internal and external materials
- Address HCP inquiries with expert precision

Societal & Business Support
- Assist with local sales events (pump clinics, clinical workshops, info nights)
- Stay updated on current scientific research in diabetes, particularly within the device market
- Collaborate in broader advocacy and patient support initiatives
Key Decision Rights
- Develop and approve the UK Medical Affairs strategy and launch plans
- Design and manage KOL engagement activities
- Shape Medical Education plans for UK HCPs
Requirements
Education & Experience
✅ MD, PharmD, PhD, or MS in life sciences, or equivalent ✅ At least 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs within diabetes or medical devices (pharma/non-pharma) ✅ Deep understanding of:
- The diabetes treatment landscape (current/future therapies)
- Ongoing clinical trials/research in diabetes devices
- Regulatory requirements for medical products

Skills & Competencies
- Proven leadership in shaping and executing regional medical strategies
- Strong written/verbal communication (fluency in English mandatory)
- Broad regulatory and commercial acumen, particularly in global medical devices
- Scientific precision with detail-oriented precision
- Balanced strategist/executor: combining big-picture vision with execution
- Ability to lead and influence across senior stakeholders (HCPs, clinicians, internal teams)
- High ethical standards in engagements with HCPs, payers, and industry professionals
Location & Travel Requirements
✈️ UK-based, with 30–40% travel frequency (national UK conferences, events, cross-border meetings).
