Medical Affairs Lead – United Kingdom
Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Affairs Lead responsible for shaping and delivering the UK medical strategy, driving education, evidence generation, and engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the diabetes space. This role leads cross-functional collaboration to support product launches, market access, and adoption of Insulet’s solutions.
As part of the regional leadership team, the successful candidate will:
- Oversee Medical Affairs activities
- Manage a team
- Ensure alignment with global and local objectives
The role requires deep scientific expertise, strong leadership, and extensive experience in diabetes within pharma or medical devices.
Position Overview
The Medical Affairs Lead (Medical Affairs Sr. Manager) is accountable for developing and executing the UK Medical Affairs strategy, aligning with the business objectives of Insulet’s affiliate.
Key Responsibilities:

Create and execute value-generating medical plans focused on:
- Medical education
- Evidence generation and dissemination
- HCP and KOL engagement
- Internal knowledge and insights translation

Lead, align with, and influence cross-functional partners (commercial, marketing, market access, regulatory, sales excellence) for successful plan execution.

Serve as a key member of the UK/Benelux leadership team, collaborating with Insulet’s global and local colleagues to:
- Develop and execute robust country launch plans for new products
- Meet the information, education, and research needs of HCPs
- Address scientific and technical training needs for commercial and advocacy organizations

Maintain an in-depth understanding of diabetes, the current and future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical research in the diabetes device market.

Assume leadership responsibilities to execute medical strategies supporting:
- Regulatory approval
- Customer access
- Adoption of Omnipod products in the region
Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Supervise country Medical Affairs staff, providing direction, guidance, and oversight of assigned projects and accountabilities to deliver medical objectives.
- Develop and lead execution of the Medical Affairs strategy at a country level through cross-functional collaboration and influence, supporting go-to-market plans.
- Lead, establish, and execute local medical education plans through:
- Online/in-person blended offerings (on-demand, webinars, peer-to-peer training)
- Delivery of medical education at congresses and symposia
- Product training involving the generation and delivery of medical content

Evidence & Collaboration
- Inform and strategize evidence generation plans to address market access, regulatory, and marketing needs.
- Support execution of Insulet-sponsored and Investigator-Initiated trials.
- Draft and disseminate scientific evidence for effective stakeholder engagement.
Engagement & KOL Management
- Identify and engage with HCPs to inform company strategies via:
- Advisory boards
- Clinical activities
- Scientific exchanges and educational events
- Establish and maintain credible relationships with national and regional KOLs.
- Build confidence and advocacy among key external influencers (KOLs).
Knowledge Sharing & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Translate clinical data into scientifically sound claims.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including commercial and market access partners.
- Share insights on current and future Insulet products with internal and external stakeholders.
Day-to-Day Activities

Review and approve externally-facing materials for scientific and medical accuracy using the Veeva system.

Assist HCPs in addressing medical queries.

Support sales events such as:
- Pump clinics
- Pump support groups
- Info sessions
- In-the-office educational events
- Patient information nights
- Advocacy events

Maintain an in-depth knowledge of:
- Organization structure and products
- Current scientific research and publications
- Diabetes practice and clinical decision-making
Education & Experience
Required:
- Degree: MD, PharmD, PhD, or MS in a life science discipline or equivalent.
- Experience: Over 8 years of relevant Medical Affairs experience within:
- Diabetes
- Pharmaceutical or medical device industry

Physical Requirements
This role requires frequent travel, approximately 30-40% across the UK and occasional international travel for:
- Conferences
- Medical education events
- Internal meetings
