Medical Negligence Solicitor — Position Overview

Key Responsibilities of the Medical Negligence Solicitor

  • Managing a busy mixed caseload of claimant medical negligence files from initial instruction through to resolution
  • Conducting detailed legal research and case analysis
  • Liaising with medical experts, counsel, the court and other parties to proceedings
  • Providing clear, empathetic and client-focused advice, keeping clients informed and supported throughout
  • Securing the best possible outcomes using advanced litigation and negotiation skills
  • Supporting business development through professional relationships, referrers and occasional networking events
  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting more junior colleagues, apprentices and trainee solicitors

Requirements of the Medical Negligence Solicitor

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' PQE, or a Chartered Legal Executive with equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience managing claimant medical negligence cases independently
  • Excellent client care and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable clients
  • Organised, self-motivated and capable of working autonomously within a remote environment
  • A collaborative team player who contributes positively to departmental success
  • An interest in supporting and developing less experienced colleagues
  • Willing to travel to Norwich when required for induction, team meetings and client or departmental needs
