Medical Secretary
Senior Medical Secretarial Role – Care of the Elderly Team
Job Opportunity: An opportunity has arisen to join the Care of the Elderly Medical Secretary team. The role involves providing a specalised, comprehensive and confidential patient-centred clinical administration and secretarial service to Consultants and their teams in line with Departmental, Trust, and National standards, policies and procedures. This position also acts as a source of advice and guidance within the specialty.

Key Responsibilities
Patient and Clinical Administration
- Act as a senior point of contact ensuring all enquiries are promptly managed, resolved, and relevant personnel are informed with appropriate records maintained.
- Ensure clinical documentation for clinics remains up-to-date and organised, aligning with clinical decision-making when needed. Collaborate with all relevant staff to maintain efficient admin systems, prompt transcription, and distribution of correspondence, with clear reporting of exceptional circumstances.

Patient Flow and Coordination
- Organise all patients under the consultant’s care, adhering to Local and National policy and targets, to optimise clinic utilisation.
- Effectively engage with the Booking Centre and General Managers to monitor outpatient clinic efficiency and enforce established Patient Access Policies.
- Ensure patient care aligns with Clinical Service Outcomes and Trust priorities.
