Medical Secretary Opportunity in Medical Oncology at York Hospital
We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and well-organised individual to join the team of Medical Secretaries within Medical Oncology at York Hospital.
About the Role
This varied secretarial role is to support Consultant Medical Oncologists and their teams with communication, administrative, and secretarial tasks. It also involves providing support to our patients, assisting with their queries and concerns, and engaging with the wider clinical team and other key stakeholders such as GPs, etc. Responding to these queries in a timely manner to maintain a responsive service.
Main Duties
- Typing of clinics and general correspondence
- Complex diary management
- Provision of patient data
- Dealing with correspondence from patients, GPs, and other sources
- Scheduling appointments to ensure referral to treatment targets are met
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- A minimum of two years of recent secretarial/admin experience
- Proficient typing skills, particularly in audio-typing
- Experience of digital dictation
- Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous
- Well-organised
- Ability to prioritise your own workload in a fast-paced environment
- Work independently to meet strict deadlines
