Medical Secretary
Supportive Medical Secretary
To provide a comprehensive service to consultants and medical teams with minimal supervision, organising your own workload and collaborating with colleagues to ensure an exceptional standard of assistance. This role requires high levels of initiative, adaptability, and strict confidentiality—protecting sensitive information at all times. Supporting cross-cover arrangements where possible will help maintain an efficient service.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical & General Correspondence: Accurate transcription of complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio dictation for both clinical and administrative correspondence.
- Patient Communication: Handle telephone enquiries from patients—many of whom may be anxious, distressed, or dealing with sensitive situations. Requires professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
- Independent Work: Operate with minimal direct supervision, managing your own workload efficiently while working with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery.
